The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to a network of physical objects—devices, vehicles, appliances, and other items—that are embedded with sensors, software, and other technologies to connect and exchange data with other devices and systems over the internet. The aim of IoT is to create a seamless flow of data between these objects, enabling automation, real-time monitoring, and improved efficiency in various domains.
The key components of any IoT installation are
- Devices or sensors, which are objects with sensors to collect data, such as temperature, motion, or location.
- Connectivity to provide communication that enables those devices to send and receive data.
- Data processing: a system to analyze and interprete the collected data, often done through cloud computing or edge computing.
Intelion can integrate information from IoT sensors (like proximity sensors, movement detectors, zone breach detectors, etc.) to add data to any case, on top of the standard analytics already performed, like face recognition, ALPR and the like.
